Grandma Thelma
Grandma Thelma (last name Fujimoto) is 82 years old and lived most of her life on the island of Kauai. She always sewn patchwork quilts (on her Singer Sewing Machine) and continued to do so when she moved to Maui to live with her daughter. She sews one-of-a-kind quilts and sells it just so she can enjoy going to visit her great grandchildren on the island of Oahu. She loves what she does and is probably very healthy because she is kept busy cutting (still with scissors and not with the cutter), counting blocks, sewing, and putting pieces together. She is considered a patchwork artist because she does the coordinating of which material matches the other. Grandma Thelma's quilts are bought from people all over the world. These quilts are used as blankets, bedspreads, furniture throws, wall hangings, table tops, baby's crib cover (and blankie), beach mat, etc.

The Hawaiian Print Patchwork Quilts
Grandma uses the pinwheel pattern on all her quilts. She uses Hawaiian print material (collon, poly/cotton) and uses whatever she has on hand to complete baby sizes up to king sizes. It all depends on how much she has of matching material. She said that's the hardest part. Counting the blocks to see if she has enough to complete a certain size quilt. The quilts last a long time because it is machine sewn. You may machine wash it (in cold water so colors won't fade-it won't run).
